I started my music career while still at school at the age of 7. I performed in singing eistedfodds and musicals for which I had won several awards. Aged 12 , I was chosen to sing in the biggest choir in the Cape Province and sang with them for 2 years. In High School aged 14 I performed in various dramas, shows and also perfomed as guest artist at large school & church functions. After leaving school I auditioned for the South African Army Dance band and was accepted. I performed in this band for 2 years while doing my national service.
1990 - Played in various dance bands until persuing a solo career for 8 years with my band DUAL PURPOSE, playing in various pubs, at dances, functions and at festivals.
2000 - I released a cd with Kareen Groenewald. Some of the tracks on this cd was played on the local radio station in Cape Town. Kareen got married and retired from music.
2001 - Vicky joined me in January 2001, and we were rated one of the top 10 bands in the Cape Province and played under the band name 'ELEVATION. We performed at various functions in Cape Town and surrounding areas. We were approached to perform in Delhi in 2001 and signed a contract to perform for more than 3 months in Delhi at the 32nd Milestone Hotel Club NYX.
2002 - After the 3 month stint in Delhi we performed in Abu Dhabi at the Hilton Hotel at the Hemingways Restaurant.
2002 - 2003 I went solo again and performed in Muscat at the Crowne Plaza Hotel
at the Tropicana Restaurant.
2003 - 2005 I again pursued a solo career in South Africa. I played at various functions and pubs and was also the only band to perform for Birkenhead Breweries covering weddings and parties for people from Canada to Europe. I also had invitations to perform with Steve Hofmeyer and Theuns Jordaan who are well know South African performers, which I turned down when the opportunity arose to work in the USA.
2006 Performed at the Big Sky Resort: Big Sky. Montana, USA. Every winter ski season I played the piano in the lobby of the 4 star Summit Hotel. I did this for 3 winter seasons, which is usually from December to the middle of April. I recorded a cd of my piano playing due to the many requests I received from guests at the hotel and throughout the country. I did not sing while playing the piano as I was booked to play background music only.
I am currently living in the beautiful seaside town of Gansbaai in the Overberg performing at the Gansbaai Saloon and other venues throughout the Overberg, Boland, Karoo and Cape Town entertaining the guests with music, DJ as well as karaoke. I recently recorded a song which is included on Die Fees of die Ganse cd with various other artists.
I do various kinds of music ie. ballades, pop, reggae, classical, R & B, dance, house and a bit of jazz. I'm very versatile as I can play the keyboard and piano and I sing as well.
